Your feet need special attention after winter. Often neglected, they can become dry and calloused. Instead of reaching for metal files or exfoliating socks, which can worsen skin conditions, it's worth trying some home remedies. Apple cider vinegar, a tried and tested solution from olden times, is an excellent option.

How does apple cider vinegar work?

Apple cider vinegar, popular in weight-loss diets, is also invaluable for foot care. Its antibacterial, antifungal, and exfoliating properties help combat cracked and dry skin. Additionally, vinegar neutralises unpleasant odours.

Prepare a vinegar bath

To prepare the bath, pour 240 millilitres of apple cider vinegar into a bowl of warm water—enough to comfortably submerge both feet. The feet should be soaked for about 15 minutes. Apple cider vinegar has strong softening and exfoliating properties, effectively loosening dead skin and making it easier to remove. Additionally, it works as an antibacterial and antifungal treatment, making this bath caring and hygienic.

Repeat the procedure once or twice a week

After 15 minutes, gently dry the feet with a towel, and then use a file or pumice stone to remove the softened calluses. Finally, it's worth massaging a moisturising or regenerating cream into the skin of the feet—preferably with urea, which further supports skin renewal. This simple home treatment can be repeated regularly, once or twice a week, to enjoy smooth and well-groomed feet all year round.
