Traditional recipes passed down from generation to generation have ensured that rice with apples remains enormously popular, not only as a dessert but also as a hearty meal for the entire family.

The popularity of rice with apples stems from its simplicity and the availability of its ingredients. Rice, apples, and spices form the basis of this recipe, which can be prepared in various ways by adding your favourite ingredients. This allows even the simplest recipe to become a personal culinary masterpiece that will appeal to household members.

Baked rice with apples: ingredients

Preparing rice with apples doesn't require complicated ingredients. The basic elements are rice, apples (preferably several varieties), and milk. To prepare the dish, you need about 200 grams of rice, one kilogram of apples, approximately 570 ml of milk, and a handful of walnuts as an optional addition to enhance the flavour and add crunch.

Additions such as cinnamon and vanilla sugar give the dish a unique aroma. A pinch of salt highlights the sweetness of the other ingredients, and butter, which we use to grease the dish, prevents sticking and adds smoothness to the meal. Of course, everyone can introduce their own modifications by adding favourite spices or other fruits to create a unique version of this classic dish.

How to prepare baked rice with apples?

To prepare rice with apples, start by cooking the rice. Pour the milk into a pot, add the vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cook the rice on low heat until it softens and absorbs the milk, which should take about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, peel and grate the apples. Melt butter in a pan and add the grated apples, along with the remaining sugar and cinnamon. Fry on low heat until the apples soften.

After frying, the apples gain a unique flavour thanks to the cinnamon. These prepared apples will make an excellent addition to the rice that has already absorbed the spices during cooking.

Then bake the dish in an oven preheated to 175 degrees Celsius for about 25 minutes. This will allow the top layer to brown and all the ingredients to combine.
