Belgium, as the first country in the European Union, has implemented a ban on the sale of disposable e-cigarettes, effective 1st January. Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke emphasised that these products are "extremely harmful" both to society and the environment.

Minister Vandenbroucke noted that disposable e-cigarettes are a new product designed to attract more consumers.

- E-cigarettes often contain nicotine. Nicotine makes you addicted to nicotine. Nicotine is bad for your health - he said, quoted by "The Guardian".

Will Belgium's decision affect other countries?

Vandenbroucke highlighted the presence of dangerous chemical waste in these affordable and widely available products. He also emphasised that Belgium plays a "pioneering role in Europe to weaken the tobacco lobby."

Belgium's decision may influence other EU countries considering similar steps to protect public health and the environment.
