Biden retreats, politics recalibrate with Trump's return
After the electoral defeat of the Democrats in November, Joe Biden has "disappeared from the radar," reports Politico. The portal reached out to collaborators of the President of the United States, who admit that "it seems Trump is already president." They also pointed out the reasons for this apparent absence and Biden's restraint.
It seems that Joe Biden left the Oval Office a few weeks ago, according to Politico, citing conversations with Democratic Party members and White House advisers.
In the span of over a month since the presidential elections, the leader of the United States has "disappeared from the radar," appearing publicly mainly with prepared statements and avoiding journalists' questions.
Biden also did not organise a post-election press conference, which was a tradition for his predecessors.
Portal sources suggest that Biden and his administration show 'little interest' in helping outline the future of the Democrats after the inauguration of Donald Trump's term.
Biden has focused the energy of his collaborators on managing the transition of power and dealing with some final matters aimed at strengthening his legacy. It seems that Trump is already the president, stated one of the Democrats.
At the end of Biden's term, White House officials are dedicating a significant amount of time to administrative actions enabling the transfer of money to Ukraine, which the Trump administration might block, as well as addressing the recently escalating war and tensions in the Middle East.
The White House fears that the future administration will lead both conflicts in a completely different direction.
The debate around these changes is also echoing widely in Europe. Poland, in the process of forming new relations with the US administration, is trying to balance internal expectations with international commitments, in light of upcoming challenges on the EU and NATO stage.
In the context of geopolitical changes, Poland is trying to adapt to the new situation, which indicates differences in approach compared to the previous administration.
