Brutal attack on former Hungarian Foreign Minister Jeszenszky

On Sunday afternoon, Geza Jeszenszky, former Foreign Minister of Hungary, was the victim of a brutal attack near his home in Budapest. The attacker, armed with a metal rod, assaulted the diplomat, causing serious skull injuries. According to the newspaper "Nepszava," Jeszenszky's wife was also slightly injured during the assault.
After the attack, Jeszenszky, along with a man who tried to help him, pursued the assailant. Other witnesses of the incident also joined the chase. Eventually, the attacker was apprehended by police in one of Budapest's squares. In a letter sent to the editorial office of "Nepszava," Jeszenszky explained that the masked man tried to kill him.
A repeat from two years ago
Jeszenszky revealed that two years ago the same man attacked him in the courtyard in a similar manner, also wearing a mask. But then he managed to escape, and they did not find him" – wrote Jeszenszky.
As a result of Sunday's attack, Jeszenszky suffered a skull fracture near the ear and underwent surgery. His condition is stable, but he will remain in hospital for about a week.
