You just need to cut the eggs a bit differently to transform an ordinary Easter appetiser into a fun touch. Involve the youngest family members in making these chick eggs, and the memories of working together will stay with you for a long time.

Other ideas for edible Easter decorations

Besides chick eggs, you can also prepare a traditional butter lamb. To make it neat and even, use a special mould, which you can surely find in variety stores. Decorate the lamb with fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme.

Another interesting idea for Easter is marzipan bunnies. This almond paste can be easily shaped into different forms and then decorated with colourful sprinkles or chocolate. Cookie lovers will also enjoy egg-shaped biscuits that can be decorated with icing and edible pearls.

If you want the filling to have a bolder flavour, you can add pickled mushrooms or capers.

Ingredients:

  • 8 eggs,
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of cream cheese,
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise,
  • 1 tablespoon of honey mustard,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric,
  • a few black peppercorns,
  • pickled carrot.

Instructions:

  1. Boil the eggs until hard, and after cooling, peel off the shells.
  2. Using a small sharp knife, cut off the tops to achieve the effect shown in the picture.
  3. Use a small spoon to scoop out the yolks and transfer them to a deep bowl. Blend with the cream cheese, a tablespoon of mayonnaise, and mustard. Season with salt and turmeric to enhance the yellow colour of the filling.
  4. Place the filling in the deeper halves of the egg whites using a piping bag. Cover the chick eggs with their little caps.
  5. Make the eyes from black peppercorns and the beaks from pickled carrot.
