After each use, wash a wooden board with warm water and washing-up liquid, then dry it thoroughly. To remove strong odours, rub the board with half a lemon and rinse. Lemon neutralises strong odours such as garlic, onion, or fish, which are easily absorbed by wood.
Once a week, it's also beneficial to use hydrogen peroxide and bicarbonate of soda – wash the board with hydrogen peroxide, sprinkle with bicarbonate of soda, wait 15 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.
