Crispy surimi sticks: Your new favourite movie snack
Are you seeking inspiration for an unconventional snack for movie night or a get-together with friends? Are you tired of pretzels, crisps, and dull popcorn? You've come to the right place. We have something rather special for you. Attention! It's advisable to prepare a double portion immediately, as this crispy treat vanishes swiftly.
Surimi, often known as crab sticks, can be found in nearly every supermarket. They are available frozen, in brine, or cooked. The name might be slightly misleading, as surimi primarily consists of white fish such as pollock, hake, or cod, rather than crab meat.
Crab sticks offer a delicate yet slightly salty taste. Their aroma and texture provide interesting culinary inspiration.
You can eat them straight from the packet or heat them up to enjoy them warm. They complement eggs excellently, making them ideal for egg paste with chives or an omelette with mozzarella. Crab sticks are also a popular ingredient in sushi (mainly maki) and spring roll fillings. Some people add them to soups and even patties. Breaded surimi sticks make a splendid snack for an evening gathering.
