Denmark rallies European allies against Trump's Greenland bid
Denmark is doing everything to dissuade Trump from wanting to take control of Greenland. The country's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, announced that she has received support from "European leaders".
In recent weeks, Trump has discussed the possibility of the USA taking over Greenland. He has not ruled out using force or economic pressure against Denmark, such as tariffs. His comments have been met with outrage in many Western countries, especially in Denmark, which governs Greenland.
Prime Minister Frederiksen said the president of France is one of the European leaders supporting her opposition to Trump's plans. After a meeting with Emmanuel Macron, she emphasised that she received "great support" from him on this matter.
She highlighted that the people of Greenland "do not want to be Americans," although they are open to cooperation with the USA. Friends from the Nordic countries, Europe, and outside Europe have made it clear that, of course, the territories and sovereignty of states must be respected, she declared.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasised in the context of Trump's words that "borders cannot be shifted by force".
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Robert Brieger, stated that it would benefit EU military forces to be stationed in Greenland alongside American troops for global security.
