Detained dual citizen suspected in rail sabotage plot
In Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, the FSB detained a young Russian man who also holds German citizenship. The 20-year-old was accused of preparing an act of sabotage.

According to the Russian FSB, the man, who also holds a German passport, was detained before the planned attack. According to his testimony, in November 2024, he was preparing an attack on a railway track in Nizhny Novgorod using a homemade explosive device.
This attack was allegedly being prepared on the orders of the Ukrainian special services. The 20-year-old reportedly confessed he was promised payment for this.
It is claimed that in the young man's home, a ready-to-use improvised explosive device was found, along with correspondence with a representative of the Ukrainian special services.
The FSB claims they got onto the trail of the bomber during searches in Russia for "followers of the Ukrainian neo-Nazi ideology." He was detained along with a group of young people involved in committing common crimes.
