Dietitian's twist: Walnuts elevate your scrambled eggs
None of us would probably think of this addition to scrambled eggs. However, dietitian Dr Bartek Kulczyński expertly knows how to combine healthy products to enhance their nutritional value. That's precisely the case here. What does the expert add to eggs? The taste is intriguing.
Bartek Kulczyński is a dietitian who holds a PhD in food technology and nutrition. On his YouTube channel, he shares videos discussing what a healthy diet should look like and what to eat daily to maintain good health. He often talks about eggs and scrambled eggs, as they are among his favourite dishes.
The dietitian praises eggs
According to Bartek Kulczyński, eggs are one of the healthiest foods. Every time he talks about them, he highlights the choline found in yolks. Research confirms that people who eat eggs regularly protect themselves against harmful changes in the brain and the risk of dementia. Providing adequate choline in the daily diet is very difficult if we don't consume eggs. Eggs also have a positive effect on bones. They strengthen them because they contain high-quality protein and antioxidants. Notably, they do not raise cholesterol levels and have a beneficial effect on the circulatory system.
An unconventional addition to scrambled eggs
One way to increase egg intake is through the much-loved scrambled eggs. The dietitian doesn't alter the simple preparation method. However, he adds one completely unexpected ingredient to the dish: walnuts, which he toasts beforehand on a dry pan. He usually serves the scrambled eggs with greens, such as parsley or chives.
A good dose of energy
Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids that improve cognitive function and, importantly, provide a lot of energy. Regular consumption of walnuts can also lower levels of "bad" LDL cholesterol, benefiting the circulatory system. Thanks to antioxidants like vitamin E, walnuts protect cells from oxidative stress. Their anti-inflammatory properties support gut health and may reduce the risk of developing diseases, including colorectal cancer. Walnuts are also a source of fibre, which aids digestion and regulates cholesterol levels.
