Dill-doused herrings: A flavorful twist on a classic catch

The season to enjoy herring with friends is swiftly approaching. It’s a time when we seek out recipes for these delectable fish. Recently, I've been savouring them with a green addition often associated with potatoes and... sauce for meatballs. I've prepared them several times, and they always remain delightful.

Dill sauce can be served with both meat and vegetarian dishes. It pairs wonderfully with various dishes such as salads, eggs, pasta, or poultry. Dill sauce can be enjoyed warm or cold, with the latter version complementing herring beautifully.

Who appreciates dill

Dill may seem like a modest herb, but its aromatic properties are remarkable. It adds a refreshing touch to any dish, and it’s worth noting its numerous health benefits. The herb is rich in vitamins and minerals. It contains vitamin C, which supports the immune system, and B vitamins, essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. Dill is also abundant in calcium and iron, supporting bone and blood health. This green addition positively influences our well-being, so it’s wise not to neglect it during the autumn and winter seasons.

In tandem with herring

One delightful way to utilise dill is by preparing herring with this recipe. The dish will be aromatic, with a fresh hint, and exceptionally tasty. It's best to prepare it the day before to allow the flavours to meld. These herrings taste perfect with bread.
