Drunken chaos prompts emergency landing on Dubai-Moscow flight
A drunken passenger attempted to break a window on a plane flying from Dubai to Moscow, forcing the crew to make an emergency landing in Baku, reported "The Sun," publishing footage of the shocking scenes on board the plane.
An incident occurred during the flight from Dubai to Moscow. A 38-year-old man, Roman Pakhomov, under the influence of alcohol, tried to break the aircraft window with his fist.
According to "The Sun," the initially intoxicated and agitated Russian was aggressive towards crew members and other passengers. He shouted and kicked anyone who approached him. The other passengers subdued and restrained the aggressive man using seat belts to secure him to his seat.
However, the 38-year-old managed to free himself and began punching the window. Consequently, the plane's captain decided on an emergency landing in Baku. After landing, the Russian was detained by Azerbaijani police.
Reports suggest that Pakhomov "went mad" after consuming alcohol of unknown origin, which he had brought onboard. After sobering up, he did not remember what he had done.
The plane resumed its journey to Moscow after a delay of about two hours and 45 minutes, which corresponds to 14:00 GMT.
As noted by the British newspaper, this isn't the only such incident recently. A similar event occurred earlier in December, when a drunken passenger forced the landing of a flight from Morocco to Glasgow. Following the emergency landing in Faro, he was removed from the aircraft by Portuguese police. "The Sun" reports that the man was aggressive and did not respond to crew warnings.
