The conditions in damp flats, especially in bathrooms, due to frequent baths, steam, and poor ventilation, promote the growth of mould and fungi. Mould settles where the surface most frequently contacts moisture. Therefore, it appears on the shower, sink, or window seals.

How to get rid of mould?

Even a small amount of mould in a room can lead to serious health problems. Symptoms such as headaches, migraines, nausea, runny nose, numbness of limbs, eye irritation, and allergies may appear after prolonged exposure to areas where mould mycotoxins are present. This should not be underestimated, and action should be taken immediately.

If the bathroom has a lot of moisture and mould often appears on the seals, you can use a simple trick to make the harmful residue disappear. Cover the seals with a thin cloth or paper soaked in a solution that removes mould. There's no need to use strong chemicals. You only need bicarbonate of soda, vinegar, and whitening paste.

How to prepare the solution?

First, cut paper or cloth into thin strips, matching the length and width of the seals. Then prepare the anti-mould solution by mixing a tablespoon of paste with about 60 ml of vinegar and a tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda. Soak the cut pieces of cloth or paper in it. Place the wet strips on the seals and leave them for half an hour, preferably an hour. After that time, remove the strips and wipe the seals with a damp sponge.

If a lot of mould is left, you can remove the residue with an old toothbrush. It should come off the seals easily. Finally, wipe the seals with dry paper. To prevent mould from settling again, ventilate the bathroom. After each shower, open the door and ventilate for at least an hour.
