Elon Musk denounces Trump's 'disgusting abomination' tax bill
Elon Musk, a billionaire and until recently a close collaborator of US President Donald Trump, sharply criticised the American leader's budget bill proposal on Tuesday. He added that those who voted for the bill had made a mistake.
"I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore," the Tesla CEO wrote on X, referring to the project described by Trump as a "one big, beautiful bill".
Musk called the proposal to cut taxes and increase certain expenditures a "disgusting abomination".
The billionaire expressed his conviction that those who voted to pass the bill know they made a mistake. He pointed out that the bill would significantly increase the budget deficit to the tune of 2.5 trillion dollars, burdening American citizens.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, when asked about Musk's criticism, responded that the president is aware of the billionaire's opinion on the bill and it will not change his view on proceeding with the project.
Last week, Musk announced his departure from the US administration, where he served as one of President Trump's leading advisors and the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk had already indicated earlier that he would part ways with the administration to devote more time to his businesses.
His departure coincided with public criticism of the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act". In an interview with CBS, Musk expressed disappointment with the project.
