As reported by Politico, during the European Political Community meeting in Tirana, EU members will deliberate on the possibility of enforcing a complete trade embargo on Russia.

This move is seen as a measure to apply pressure on Moscow. Representatives from the 27 EU countries, as well as those from the Western Balkans, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine, will attend the meeting.

One of the primary topics of discussion will be the imposition of tariffs and restrictions on exports from Russia. A full trade embargo is being considered as one potential method of exerting pressure on Russia.

The decision to enhance sanctions is linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin's refusal to join the negotiations in Istanbul, which were scheduled for 16 May.

The meeting in Tirana aims to explore strategies regarding Russia in light of its actions on the international stage. Enforcing a comprehensive trade embargo could significantly affect economic relations between the EU and Russia, which is the focus of rigorous discussions among European leaders.
