Much of the information provided by the Russian media and government representatives is likely to be untrue. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.

The European Union has advised member countries not to send representatives to Victory Day celebrations organised on 9 May in Moscow. Most leaders have responded positively to this advice.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, plans to attend the Russian celebrations. EU diplomats indicate that this decision might be perceived as support for Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Russian politicians have reacted aggressively to the decision of the European Union and its member countries. Kremlin officials believe that the absence of participation in Victory Day celebrations is "evidence of revival of European Nazism."

This is evidence of the resurgence of European Nazism in Europe. An ideology that destroyed Europe, which we fought against and which was judged by the tribunal in Nuremberg - said Lavrov in an interview for the propaganda station Russia 1.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also added that "Russia will not put up with Nazism," using aggressive rhetoric.

Russia will not put up with European Nazism. Russia will do everything to ensure that this ideology does not rear its head. We will destroy it once and for all and ensure that Europe returns to its values - conveyed Sergey Lavrov.

In a similarly aggressive tone, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously spoken. He also talked about the "revival of European Nazism."
