FBI visit to Ben Affleck's home linked to drone mishap
In January, during the fires in Los Angeles, the media displayed photos of FBI agents knocking on Ben Affleck's door. Immediately, various wild theories began to circulate. In an interview with "GQ Magazine," the actor elaborated on the circumstances of the event.
The FBI spokeswoman confirmed the presence of agents on the Hollywood star's property, but her explanation was very brief: "Members of the FBI's Ground Intercept task force are conducting activity in the area of the Palisades fire. Agents and our local partners may be visible throughout the area, including at residences, for this reason."
Sensational information quickly emerged in the media linking the visit of FBI agents at Affleck's home to an incident in which a private drone collided with a firefighting plane as it was assisting them in combating the blaze.
As it turns out, at the time the FBI agents appeared, the actor was away from home, which was indeed threatened by the fire. He learned about the whole affair from the media. Concerned, he immediately decided to find out what was going on.
"I called them and said, 'Hey, FBI, were you at my house? Do you want to talk to me?' 'Oh, we don’t know.' I got transferred along. Finally, somebody who was actually responsible for what was happening was like, 'Oh, we had no idea that was your house'," the star recalls in an interview with GQ.
During his "private investigation," Affleck discovered that one of his neighbours is a federal officer whose home was burglarised during the fires. Because of this, the FBI was interviewing nearby residents. While looking for witnesses to the event, they ended up on Ben Affleck's property.
