Fire and explosions rock Moscow shopping centre near drone hub
A fire broke out in the car park of the Afimall City shopping centre, located in the business district of the Russian capital. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, one of the cars parked there was on fire.
Videos have appeared online showing thick black smoke rising above the district. According to preliminary reports, at least three powerful explosions were heard at the site.
According to Russian media, a car and fuel tanks exploded. The fire also reportedly affected building materials located at the site.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that the fire has been contained. "The cause of the fire is being determined," reads the published statement.
There is currently no information about the owner of the car that exploded.
According to preliminary reports, there are no fatalities.
Drone centre at the explosion site
Anton Herashchenko, an advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reminds that last week Russia revealed that it has a "drone centre" at this location, from which drones involved in the invasion of Ukraine are remotely controlled.
Kyiv has not yet officially commented on the fire in Moscow.
