Shared vision of peace
During the conversation, military and humanitarian issues were addressed, along with methods to achieve a just peace in Ukraine.
The communiqué emphasized that both politicians recognized the significance of the American President's leadership, particularly in efforts to achieve a rapid ceasefire and lasting peace in Ukraine.
The first move towards peace could involve Russia halting air and sea assaults, as well as attacks on civilian energy infrastructure. Scholz confirmed that Germany would continue to support Ukraine, collaborating with European and international partners.
Solidarity and support
President Zelensky highlighted the importance of European solidarity with Ukraine in a message on the platform X. He stressed that Ukraine depends on Europe's unity and is actively working to maintain it. Emphasizing the shared goal of long-term security for citizens, he underscored the need for a lasting resolution to the war rather than just a temporary ceasefire.
