Beneath the crispy pastry lies a small sausage with a touch of cheese, but some might also find a carrot. This refers to the famous "trick or treat" tradition. Fortunately, the trick here is not unpleasant but just amusing because there’s nothing wrong with a carrot.

When this snack appears on the table, everyone immediately reaches for it eagerly. It looks impressive, but the preparation is neither complicated nor particularly time-consuming.

Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 200g plain flour,
  • 55g butter,
  • 1 egg,
  • 20g sugar,
  • 1 pinch of salt.

Other ingredients:

  • 100g chicken sausages,
  • 55g sliced cheddar cheese,
  • 1 small carrot (trick).

Instructions:

Step 1. Pour the plain flour into a bowl and add the butter. Knead briefly. Then add the egg, sugar and salt, and combine the ingredients until a uniform dough forms. Wrap it in cling film and place it in the fridge for one hour.

Step 2. Remove the dough from the fridge and wait half an hour. After this time, roll it out, using a bit of plain flour, to a thickness of about 1mm and cut out circles.

Step 3. Cut the sausage into pieces and the cheese into smaller strips. Brush half of each circle with egg white and wrap the sausage in cheese. Lightly pinch the edges into the shape of candy. In one candy, instead of sausage, place a piece of carrot.
