Hillary Clinton takes aim at Trump's national security mix‑up

Hillary Clinton commented on a blunder by Donald Trump's administration, which accidentally included the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic in a group conversation about national security. "You have got to be kidding me," wrote the former Secretary of State, attaching an emoji of peering eyes and a screenshot of the article.

Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, revealed that National Security Advisor Michael Waltz inadvertently added him to an 18-person chat with other Trump administration officials.

The group was discussing military attacks in Yemen and other key national security issues.

The National Security Council spokesperson, Brian Hughes, confirmed the authenticity of the conversation on Signal, an encrypted communication app. "We are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain," Hughes stated, as quoted by huffpost.com.

When asked about the situation, Donald Trump stated he knew nothing about it. "I’m not a big fan of The Atlantic. To me it’s a magazine that’s going out of business … but I know nothing about it," the president commented.

Internet users quickly noticed the irony of the situation, reminding us that Hillary Clinton was criticised for using a private email server for official communication as Secretary of State, instead of government State Department accounts.

No charges for Clinton

In October 2016, just before the presidential election, then-FBI Director James Comey began an investigation into Clinton's use of a private server.

Although it was found that she acted extremely carelessly, no charges were filed against her. Clinton later claimed that the FBI investigation contributed to her defeat in the election.

Hillary Clinton, one of the most recognisable figures in contemporary American politics, has been at the centre of events for several decades, both in the USA and on the international stage.

She was the first woman to receive a presidential nomination from one of the major political parties in the United States, but her path to the White House ended in failure. Nonetheless, her life and activities have had a significant impact on the history of modern United States.
