Iran warns U.S. over potential Israeli strikes on nuclear sites

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Aragczi, declared on Thursday that responsibility for any potential Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear installations would fall on the United States. He also warned that Tehran would take "special actions" to defend its nuclear facilities.

On Tuesday, CNN reported that, according to American intelligence, Israel is preparing to strike Iranian nuclear facilities. The Israeli government did not comment on this information.

In recent days, Iran has been critical of the United States' position, which reiterated the demand that the Iranian nuclear programme be subject to a total ban on uranium enrichment.

The United States argues that, if it possessed this capability, Iran would continue to work on nuclear weapons. The authorities in Tehran assure that the Iranian nuclear programme is purely peaceful.

The fifth round of Iranian-American negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme is scheduled to take place on Friday at 13:00 GMT in Rome.
