Israeli airstrike targets alleged Jihad leader’s hideout
The Israeli Air Force conducted an attack on a building in Damascus. Tel Aviv claims it housed the headquarters of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
The target of the attack, as reported by Reuters citing sources within the Syrian security services, was a Palestinian individual. According to the Associated Press, the building was allegedly home to Ziyad Nahkhalah, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
According to a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the house had been empty for years, and Nahkhalah is not in Syria. It is believed that Nahkhalah, considered to be very close to the Iranian authorities, travels between Lebanon, Iran, and Syria.
Currently, there is no information regarding whether anyone was injured in the Israeli Air Force attack.
"There will be no immunity for Islamic terrorism"
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, although smaller in number than Hamas, is one of the most significant terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Air Force attack on Damascus is part of a broader strategy by Israel aimed at countering terrorist activities directed at the Jewish state. - Wherever terror activity against Israel is organized, the extreme Islamic leader al-Jolani will find the Air Force aircraft flying above and striking terror targets, - emphasised Israel's Defence Minister, Israel Katz.
- There will be no immunity for Islamic terrorism against Israel – whether in Damascus or anywhere else, - added Minister Katz.
