Cleaning a gas stove grate can be challenging, but there are proven methods that make this task easier. Here are some practical ways to help keep your stove in perfect condition.

Five minutes and it’s done

What is the Japanese method of cleaning a gas stove grate? All you need are paper towels, a sponge, oil, and hot water. Apply the oil to the sponge and rub it into the cast iron parts of the stove. Next, cover the grate with paper towels soaked in hot water. Leave the grate for five minutes. After this time, simply wipe the cast iron parts with a coarse sponge and dry everything thoroughly. Greasy residues will disappear.

How else can you clean this part of the stove? A baking soda paste is considered equally effective. Simply mix it with water and apply it to the soiled areas. After waiting about 40 minutes, the dirt will begin to lift on its own—just rinse the grate with warm water.

Another method is to use white vinegar. Mix the vinegar with water in a 1:1 ratio and spray it onto the grate. After 15 minutes, wipe it down with a damp cloth. Vinegar removes dirt and neutralises unpleasant odours, which provides an additional advantage to this method.

How do you clean a glass or enamel stove surface? A mixture of lemon juice and water or dishwashing liquid will help. Both substances are effective at dissolving various types of stains. Meanwhile, clean the gas burners using warm water and vinegar.
