Jordanian passenger's mid‑air chaos prompts legal action in Sydney
A series of dangerous and shocking events unfolded during the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney. One of the passengers, a Jordanian national, attempted to open the aeroplane door twice. However, that's not the whole story.
This unpredictable incident occurred on Saturday, 5th April, during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney. At that time, the behaviour of the 46-year-old Jordanian passenger caused chaos on board.
He attempted to open the aeroplane door
The man, who was flying with AirAsia, became aggressive and assaulted the cabin crew. In a scuffle, he struck one of the crew members. Furthermore, he ignored crew instructions and twice attempted to open the rear emergency exit door of the aeroplane, posing a severe threat to the safety of everyone on board.
The crew and passengers managed to restrain him before any tragedy could occur. Upon landing in Sydney, the Jordanian national was immediately met by officers from the Australian Federal Police.
Legal consequences
After questioning the man and the cabin crew, the 46-year-old was charged, and proceedings against him will be held on 9th April this year. The hearing is scheduled to take place at the court in Parramatta. He will face charges for endangering flight safety and assaulting a crew member.
Davina Copelin from the Australian Federal Police emphasized that such behaviour could have had tragic consequences. The police do not intend to tolerate aggression on aeroplanes and are prepared to take decisive action in similar situations. According to Australia.news-pravda.com, the man faces up to 10 years of imprisonment.
