Photos released by media in Pyongyang show Kim looking through the scope of the new sniper rifle, which was delivered to special operations units.

The leader supervised shooting exercises and expressed "great satisfaction over the performance and power of the sniper rifle developed in our own way", reported KCNA. This event underscores North Korea's goal to strengthen its armed forces.

AFP notes that South Korean intelligence reports the deployment of thousands of troops from North Korea's special units to Russia to support Moscow in the war with Ukraine. Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump, who has met with Kim three times, stated that he still maintains contact with him and plans to "do something at some point."
