Pope Francis died on 21 April 2025 at 7:35. The official announcement of his death was made to the public by representatives of the Vatican, with Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the Camerlengo, being the first to deliver this sad news.

A few hours after this announcement, King Charles III delivered his official statement.

"My wife and I were most deeply saddened to learn of the death of Pope Francis," the statement said.
Our heavy hearts have been somewhat eased, however, to know that His Holiness was able to share an Easter Greeting with the Church and the world he served with such devotion throughout his life and ministry., it reads.

"His Holiness will be remembered for his compassion, his concern for the unity of the Church and for his tireless commitment to the common causes of all people of faith, and to those of goodwill who work for the benefit of others."

"Through his work and care for both people and planet, he profoundly touched the lives of so many," continued King Charles III's statement.

He then mentioned that, together with the Queen, they have very fond memories of all their meetings with Pope Francis and expressed deep sympathy to the Church representatives.
