Kyiv remains silent on buffer zone proposal amidst tensions
"We have not heard a single statement to this effect from Kiev," said Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the issue of creating the so-called buffer zone. The Kremlin spokesman, in a conversation with the Russian agency TASS, referred to the words of the US special envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, on this topic.
Much of the information disseminated by Russian media and government representatives is likely untrue. Such reports may be an element of the information warfare from the Russian Federation.
Dmitry Peskov, quoted by the Russian agency TASS, stated that Moscow has not yet received any official communication from Kyiv concerning the establishment of a buffer zone along the front line.
In this way, the Kremlin spokesman answered the question of whether Russia is ready to consider such a proposal from the Ukrainian side.
Keith Kellogg on creating a buffer zone
Keith Kellogg, the special envoy for peace in Ukraine, told Fox News that Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire covering land, sea, and air operations for a minimum of 30 days, with the option to extend the truce further.
According to him, Ukrainian representatives have stated that they are ready for immediate actions and to freeze the conflict.
According to Kellogg, the idea accepted by the Ukrainian side was to establish a buffer zone of approximately 30 kilometres. It would be established along the current front line.
