Lufthansa ends long-haul duty-free sales amid waning demand
Lufthansa will cease the sale of duty-free products on long-haul flights due to a decline in customer interest in items such as cosmetics and perfumes. Onboard sales will be available only until the end of August.
The airline had previously discontinued duty-free sales on short and medium-haul flights and has now extended this decision to long-haul routes. Lufthansa observed satisfactory sales results on only a few routes.
The sale of clothing and perfumes, previously available without duty on Lufthansa flights, will continue only until the end of August. This change applies exclusively to Lufthansa; other carriers within the Lufthansa Group, such as SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings, will maintain their duty-free offerings.
