The power outage on the Iberian Peninsula began shortly after noon, Spanish time, impacting all of mainland Spain. According to local media, no problems have been reported on the Balearic Islands or the Canary Islands. Portugal, Andorra, and some areas of Spain are also struggling with the outage.

Spanish power grid operator Red Eléctrica claims it has started restoring power in the north and south of the country. The company stated that they are continuing to work on restoring power.

Reuters has reported that the lack of functioning traffic lights in central Madrid has led to numerous traffic jams. National railway operator RENFE has announced the suspension of all services.

On Monday, a WTA quarter-final match in Madrid featuring Iga Świątek was scheduled, but the organisers have postponed the start due to the power outage. It is currently unclear when the matches will resume.
