Mystery sirens in Moscow spark public confusion and concern

Around 5 p.m. Greenwich Time, alarm sirens sounded throughout Moscow. The reason remains unknown. Surprised Russians began to publish recordings of the alarms online. There were no warnings about a possible system test.

According to the "Ostorożno, Moscow" channel, residents of the city centre reported the operation of the alarm systems, among others. "You can hear the siren, no one warned or issued any announcements," said one of the residents.

The sirens sounded for at least 10 minutes. There was also no information recorded about an attack on the capital.

The "Goworit i pokazujet Moscow" channel claims that the sirens are likely being checked as part of previously announced anti-terrorism exercises in schools and universities, which are scheduled to take place on April 29th and 30th.

For now, it is unclear what triggered their activation. There were no explanations or alerts about threats on television, adds the SOTAVision channel.
