Nate Vance's frontline stand contrasts Vice President cousin
Nate Vance, cousin of the US Vice President J.D. Vance, has been a volunteer fighting on Ukraine's side against Russia for almost three years. His actions contrast sharply with his cousin's policy on Ukraine.
Nate Vance, a relative of US Vice President J.D. Vance, participated in Ukraine's defence against Russia for nearly three years. As reported by Le Figaro, Nate expressed disappointment with his cousin's position on Ukraine.
At 47, Nate Vance returned to Texas in January 2025 after spending almost three years in Ukraine. There, he participated in significant battles, such as the defence of Bakhmut and the fight for Pokrovsk. Before joining the Ukrainian volunteer forces, he gained experience in the US Marine Corps. In an interview with Le Figaro, Nate Vance expressed dissatisfaction with J.D. Vance's attitude towards Ukraine.
JD is a good and intelligent guy. When he criticized aid to Ukraine, I thought it was because he had to cater to a certain electorate and that it was just political maneuvering, said Nate Vance.
Life in Ukraine
During his time in Ukraine, Nate initially engaged in humanitarian efforts in Lviv before joining the unit "Da Vinci's Wolves." He later became part of the organisation Honor, which has been fighting against Russian imperialism since 2014. Nate highlighted that members of this unit, despite their youth, demonstrated tremendous determination.
In Texas, where Nate resides, his decisions are not always met with understanding. Even his mother, Donna, shares J.D. Vance's views and criticises Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Though Nate has consistently voted for Republicans, he is disappointed with the new US administration's stance on Ukraine.
Donald Trump and my cousin clearly think they can placate Vladimir Putin. They are wrong. The Russians are not about to forget our support for Ukraine. We are Vladimir Putin’s useful idiots, stated Nate Vance.
Many commentators noted that it was J.D. Vance who provoked the dispute that occurred in the Oval Office during the meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump. Some claimed that Vance aimed to bolster his own position ahead of the next presidential elections, in which Trump will no longer be able to run.
