It's a pity because dyeing eggs at home not only allows you to achieve beautiful, subtle colours but is also completely safe and eco-friendly. Many people wonder how to prepare green eggs without using artificial dyes. The answer lies in combining the right ingredients, which can be found in any kitchen.

Green eggs – The secret lies in combining dyes

Naturally dyeing eggs green is not as simple as obtaining shades of red or brown. Spinach, parsley, or grass leaves do not release enough dye to provide an intense colour. Fortunately, there is a proven way to achieve green eggs – combining red cabbage and turmeric dye.

Red cabbage contains a natural pigment that dyes eggshells blue. Simply add yellow turmeric to achieve a beautiful, vibrant green. The key is to adhere to the appropriate proportions and soaking time of the eggs in the dye to ensure that the resulting colour is even and long-lasting.

Recipe for naturally green eggs

To prepare beautiful green Easter eggs, you need:

  • 6 eggs with white shells,
  • 1/2 head of red cabbage,
  • 4 teaspoons of turmeric,
  • 3 tablespoons of vinegar,
  • 1 litre of water.

Instructions:

  1. Hard boil the eggs and cool them.
  2. In a separate pot, cook the chopped cabbage in about 500 millilitres of water for about 20 minutes. Then strain and add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to the obtained broth.
  3. In another pot, boil around 500 millilitres of water with turmeric and a tablespoon of vinegar. After it cools slightly, immerse the eggs for 20 minutes until they have a yellow tint.
  4. Transfer the eggs to the cabbage broth and leave for an hour, checking the colour intensity.
  5. After dyeing, remove the eggs and dry them with a paper towel.
  6. For extra shine, coat the eggs with a thin layer of oil.

With this method, you will achieve intensely green Easter eggs that will adorn the Easter table. It is worth returning to natural methods of dyeing eggs to enjoy beautiful, eco-friendly decorations in keeping with tradition.
