North Korean mishap: Friendly fire incident near Kursk
A North Korean soldier accidentally shot his comrade while attempting to fend off a Ukrainian drone. The Ukrainian military has released more footage from the Kursk region in Russia.
The footage was published by the channel UA_REG Team, which regularly releases photos and videos of North Korean soldiers in Russia's Kursk region.
The latest video shows two of Kim Jong Un's soldiers. The military personnel are in a sunflower field. One of them attempts to knock down a Ukrainian drone and inadvertently fires a shot that kills his companion.
Assault near Kursk. Kim's soldiers routed
On Thursday, soldiers from the 73rd Naval Special Operations Centre of Ukraine (SSO) reported that they repelled an assault by North Korean troops in the same location. At least 12 soldiers died, and another 20 were wounded.
"During the enemy's attempted assault, the SSO operators opened fire with a stationary MK-19 automatic grenade launcher and conducted a series of drone drops," according to a statement by the unit.
Russians "burning their faces"
Also on Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in Brussels that there is no information about North Korean soldiers defecting to the Ukrainian side. He added, however, that he knows that Russia is trying to hide the losses of these people. "The Russians are also trying to literally burn the faces of the killed North Korean soldiers," he stated.
Zelensky explained that soldiers were discovered carrying documents from the Russian Federation, highlighting that Russians go to great lengths, even burning the faces of their troops, to prevent identification. He noted that similar actions were taken with their own fallen soldiers and emphasized that Ukraine is documenting these incidents by gathering photos and videos of the bodies.
