Although it is an ingredient in many dishes, onions have uses beyond the kitchen. Why place onions near the door? This trick is especially useful for those living in houses or on ground floors. It turns out that the aroma of this vegetable is an effective deterrent against certain rodents.

Mice in the area? Act immediately

Although they look harmless, mice can cause a lot of damage. These uninvited guests can chew through wires or get into the pantry and create a mess. How can we remove them from the house? Onion can help...

Mice are rodents with a sensitive sense of smell, and they dislike strong odours. One of the scents that irritates them is that of onions. The vegetable is, therefore, a natural repellent for unwanted occupants. How can you get rid of mice with the help of onions? Simply prepare a straightforward mixture to spray on areas where mice might enter your home.

Start by cutting off the ends of a large onion, then cut the vegetable in half and remove the peels. Grate it using a coarse grater. Transfer it to a larger container and add about 475 millilitres of water. Add half a teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper. Add an additional 200 millilitres of vinegar and mix everything thoroughly. Allow the mixture to sit for a few hours so that the ingredients can meld. After the designated time, strain the liquid from the onion remnants and pour it through gauze into a spray bottle. Spray the liquid on places where mice might enter the house.

By preparing this homemade repellent, we not only save money but also avoid less humane methods, such as using a mouse trap.
