OpenAI eyes new front in social media with AI‑driven platform
Facebook and X are among the most popular social networking services. Could anyone disrupt their dominance? It is possible that OpenAI, the American giant specialising in artificial intelligence, might succeed.
The creators of ChatGPT, OpenAI, are consistently developing their tools, as evidenced not only by new features in the popular chatbot but also by entirely new models—GPT-4.1 was recently unveiled. Is OpenAI fully dedicating itself to the development of artificial intelligence? Leaks suggest not entirely.
Is OpenAI creating an alternative to Elon Musk's platform?
OpenAI is developing a social network similar to X (formerly Twitter). The project is in its early stages, but the internal prototype, which cites The Verge, focuses on generating images through ChatGPT and includes an integrated social channel. TechCrunch reports.
It is not entirely clear whether OpenAI plans to launch the new social platform as a separate application or integrate it with ChatGPT. If the project is completed, the company will compete with Elon Musk's and Meta's social platforms—X, Facebook, and Instagram.
Training AI models is at stake
The new app would allow OpenAI to access real-time data needed to train its AI models, similar to X and Meta. OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, is reportedly privately seeking opinions from outsiders regarding this project.
Although there is no official confirmation yet on whether the platform will be launched, the presence of a prototype indicates OpenAI's ambition to broaden its range of services.
