The pomegranate is mentioned in the Bible, Greek mythology, and Roman mythology. It commonly appears as a decorative motif in Christianity and Judaism, and many places in the Holy Land are named after it. In mythology, it was the seeds of this fruit that Persephone consumed, leading to her becoming Hades' wife and the queen of the underworld forever. The history of the pomegranate is extensive, just like the list of benefits it offers.

The pomegranate is an underrated fruit with numerous health benefits

Although these fruits are readily available in shops, not many people choose them. They are a treasure trove of nutrients that can positively impact both beauty and health. Pomegranates are well-known for their beneficial effects on heart health. They contain antioxidants that support the circulatory system, lower blood pressure, and regulate sugar levels. This leads to more efficient heart function and a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases.

It is also worth mentioning the pomegranate's effect on the digestive system. This fruit improves intestinal function and supports digestive processes. Its high fibre content prevents constipation and supports regular bowel movements, allowing the body to better absorb nutrients. Furthermore, pomegranates are significant mood boosters because they contain B vitamins. These vitamins support the nervous system and help combat oxidative stress, leading to an improved mood and increased energy levels.

How does pomegranate affect beauty?

These fruits, originating from the Middle East, also play an important role in beauty. Antioxidant properties and the presence of vitamin C are particularly notable, helping to make the skin more elastic and radiant. Additionally, pomegranates play a crucial role in combating free radicals, which cause wrinkles and skin ageing.

Pomegranates also help reduce discolorations and maintain a healthy skin appearance. Moreover, they provide protection against UV-related damage (it's still essential to use sunscreen and protect the head from the sun). Consequently, pomegranate seed oil is a common ingredient in many cosmetics, such as creams and serums.
