Putin prolongs standoff to weaken US in ceasefire talks
Will Vladimir Putin accept the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire and sit down at the negotiating table? Journalists from "The Washington Post" reveal that, for now, the Russian leader will play for time. The Kremlin aims to weaken the United States' negotiating position. The Russians will also seek to negotiate the ceasefire terms in the conflict with Ukraine.
The United States and Ukraine have agreed on the framework for the 30-day ceasefire. Now, the Americans are expected to discuss this matter with the Russians. According to journalists from "The Washington Post," the Kremlin will pursue efforts to weaken the United States' negotiating stance. Russian intelligence services are anticipated to be involved in this endeavour.
American journalists have obtained a report prepared at the Kremlin's request by a Russian think tank. It reveals that Russia intends to fuel tensions between the USA, Ukraine, and allied countries. In this way, it seeks to significantly undermine the credibility of the United States and soften Donald Trump's resolve. The report indicates that such actions have been conducted by Russia since the start of February.
According to the report, Vladimir Putin will also play for time during negotiations. During this period, Russia is expected to intensify its actions on the front line and aim for the complete dismantling of the current Ukrainian government. Additionally, the Russian army will likely increase the intensity of its operations at the front in the coming days.
It is probable that in the coming days, there will be further military airstrikes over Ukrainian cities, and Vladimir Putin's forces will aim to retake parts of the Kursk region controlled by Ukraine. The Russian leader has already declared that Ukrainian soldiers on Russian territory will not be treated as prisoners of war but as terrorists.
