Quick and easy peach pastries: A January treat solution
If you didn't manage to meet up with friends before the holidays, don't fret. You have the whole of January ahead to catch up. Don't worry about not having cake ready—you can whip up a sweet treat to accompany your coffee in less than 20 minutes.
Puff pastry is a reliable lifesaver that works brilliantly for both sweet and savoury snacks. You can wrap anything in a convenient store-bought sheet—from fruits to sausages. For peach pastries, there's no need to wrap, making preparation even quicker and astonishingly simple.
Puff pastry with peaches and more
You can add fresh or processed fruits to the pastry. Apples, strawberries, or raspberries require no prior preparation. Just wash them and place them on squares of dough. Cut the apple into smaller pieces.
Some fruits will be more delicious if sautéed in a pan first. Slice the pears and sauté them with a touch of sugar and cinnamon. It's also worthwhile cooking plums to make them soft, juicy, and sweet after baking. Figs, when pre-baked in an oven with honey or sugar, pair wonderfully with puff pastry too.
Creamy addition to pastries
Longing for a quick, luxurious dessert? Simply mix homogenised cheese with instant pudding mix. Place it with a spoon on the puff pastry square and top with half a peach. Instead of the cheese, you can add cooked and cooled vanilla pudding. Make a thicker version with about 400 ml of milk to ensure it doesn't melt during baking.
