Quick and wholesome: Yoghurt-based smoothie breakfast fix

When I don't have time in the morning to prepare a meal, I make this smoothie. I only need plain yoghurt and fruit. It's delicious, filling, and healthy, and it can easily replace dessert.

The smoothie is nutritious and filling because it's made with plain yoghurt. Fruit also provides substantial nutritional value. Of course, it isn't meant to be an everyday breakfast, but when there's no time to prepare a meal, it's worth using this trick. You can also pour the smoothie into a sports bottle and take it with you.

Yoghurt works in the morning

Plain yoghurt is often recommended by dietitians, especially for breakfast. Traditionally, Greeks, who are known for maintaining good health for a long time, start their morning meal with it. The most important and unique aspect of this product is the live bacteria cultures, which support gut flora. This translates to better digestion and immunity.

Regular consumption of yoghurt can also aid in weight management, thanks to its high protein content, which makes you feel full longer. That's why you can have such a smoothie in the morning, and hunger won't bother you for a while. Yoghurt is also a good source of vitamins and calcium.

Fruits perfect for a smoothie

The second important ingredient of this smoothie is fruit, one of the few types that can even be eaten on an empty stomach. Bananas are easily digestible and rich in potassium, magnesium, and B vitamins. They are thus an excellent source of energy. Bananas also contain fibre, which aids digestion. It's also a good ingredient in terms of taste. Yoghurt is quite sour, while a banana is sweet, making a good combination. You can even enhance it. Lime juice also works well in such a smoothie, giving it a distinct citrus note. At this time of year, it’s also worth opting for strawberries, whose flavour pairs well with both banana and yoghurt.

Quick breakfast smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 240ml of plain yoghurt,
  • 1 ripe banana,
  • 1/4 lime (optional),
  • a handful of strawberries (optional),
  • 120ml of water (optional).

Preparation method:

  1. Pour the yoghurt into a tall container and add a banana cut into pieces. Add lime juice from a quarter of a lime and/or a handful of strawberries without the stems.
  2. Blend everything until a smooth smoothie forms. If necessary, thin it with water and blend briefly again.
