Royal wedding tensions: Meghan and Harry to skip due to William
The atmosphere between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and the royals remains tense. It seems the couple will decline to attend an important ceremony due to Prince William's presence. Reportedly, they want to "avoid conflicts" this way.
The strained relations between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and the royals are well known. Currently, chances of a truce seem slim, as the royal family faces more urgent issues, particularly the treatment of Kate Middleton and King Charles III. The Sussexes are aware of this, as they have reportedly made a surprising decision.
There will be a wedding in the royal family. Will Meghan and Harry be absent?
The media reports that another wedding is being prepared in the royal family. Next month, Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, and Olivia Henson will vow love and fidelity until death do them part. The ceremony is to take place in Chester Cathedral, with as many as 400 guests invited. Royals will be present, and this poses a problem for Meghan and Harry.
"The Sunday Times" reports that the Sussexes received an invitation to the ceremony, which should not surprise anyone, given that they are friends with Grosvenor, who is the godfather of their son, Archie. Unfortunately, they won't be seen at the wedding, as they have reportedly refused to attend to "avoid conflicts" with the royals.
"Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both. He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding," - The Sun quotes its source.
Potential conflicts are a real concern because of Prince William's presence. He will have an important role during the ceremony, welcoming the guests. It seems inevitable that the brothers would have to exchange a few words, a situation they are apparently unprepared for. Hence, while Kate's husband will attend the ceremony, the Sussexes likely will not.
It is worth mentioning that William will attend Grosvenor’s wedding for a specific reason: the aristocrat is also the godfather of his son, Prince George. Meghan and Harry won’t be the only ones absent from the ceremony. Due to ongoing treatment, Duchess Kate and King Charles III will also not attend.
