Russia and USA in key talks over Nord Stream pipelines
Russia and the USA are engaged in discussions about the Nord Stream pipelines, stated the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, as reported by the Russian agency TASS.
Agency TASS quotes Sergey Lavrov's statement to Channel One. He reportedly mentioned that "Moscow and Washington are currently in talks on the Nord Stream pipelines."

According to the agency, the discussions are centred on the possibility of restoring normal gas supplies to Europe. Lavrov noted that fuel costs for Europe are significantly higher than for the USA.
Lavrov highlighted that there are differences in the approach of Russia and the USA to the issue of Nord Stream.
- It will be interesting if the Americans use their influence on Europe and will force it not to reject the Russian gas. That would look surreal - the agency TASS cites the words of the Russian minister.
Return to Nord Stream 2? The Union won't yield
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, declared at the beginning of March that she remains committed to phasing out Russian gas from Europe and her goal is to gradually move away from it.

As she added, the RePowerEU initiative, aimed at gradually reducing Europe's dependence on Russian resources, is still in effect.
When asked about reports regarding a possible resumption of Nord Stream 2 work involving the United States, von der Leyen stressed the necessity of continued efforts. She acknowledged that while progress has been made, significant gaps remain that call for caution and sustained attention.
The spokesperson for the European Commission, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, also stated that Nord Stream 2 "is not the project of common interest. It does not diversify the EU’s energy sources."
