Russia appoints new military leader with ominous warning
Gen. Andrey Mordvichev has been appointed as the new commander of the Russian Ground Forces. A video has emerged online where he clearly states that the war in Ukraine is just the beginning. Mordvichev is responsible for the destruction of Mariupol.
There has been a change in the leadership of the Russian Ground Forces. Gen. Oleg Salugov's successor is Gen. Andrey Mordvichev, a 49-year-old military officer and former commander of the Central Military District.
Media outlets report that his career has been rapidly advancing due to his role in the capture of Mariupol. Mordvichev led the units that captured and effectively destroyed the city. The new Russian commander is being pursued by Ukrainians for war crimes. Andrey Mordvichev is allegedly responsible for orders to kill civilians and destroy infrastructure.
It is said that the Russian commander has mastered the tactics of so-called "meat assaults," which contributed to the capture of Avdiivka. This is a ruthless method of combat involving a massive infantry attack. Human casualties are disregarded — the sole objective is to dislodge defenders from their positions. The Russians leverage their numerical advantage to seize additional territories.
The Russians have a new commander. His words are chilling
Nexta recalled an earlier conversation in which Gen. Mordvichev participated. Two years ago, the Russian military officer suggested that "Ukraine is only a transitional stage" and "this is just the beginning." In his opinion, there will be no halt until Russia's objectives are fulfilled.
We should remember that even Vladimir Putin, when discussing peace talks concerning Ukraine, emphasises the "original causes" that need to be resolved. These are quite clear — Russia aims for a subjugated Ukraine, which it intends to Russify. It also seeks to influence Central and Eastern European countries. The Kremlin is considering restoring economic ties with the western part of Europe, for instance, through the sale of raw materials. Of course, Russia also aims to reduce the influence of the U.S. on the eastern flank. Many experts agree that this interpretation aligns with Putin's intentions. It couldn't be clearer.
