Russia poised to offer peace draft post-prisoner swap

• Russia and Ukraine: After the prisoner exchange is completed, Russia will present Ukraine with a draft document regarding a long-term peace agreement.

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, claims that Russia is ready to present Ukraine with a draft document outlining the terms of a long-term peace agreement.

This document is to be presented once the current prisoner exchange is completed. Lavrov also mentioned that Russia is committed to the agreements reached in Istanbul between the delegations of both countries.

During the talks in Istanbul on 16 May, the delegations from Russia and Ukraine agreed to continue negotiations. Each side is to present details of their concepts regarding a future ceasefire. As part of these talks, an exchange of prisoners of war, 1,000 for 1,000 people, was also agreed upon.

The prisoner exchange began on Friday, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that 390 people have returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity. The Russian side also confirmed that Ukraine has released 390 prisoners. The exchange process is expected to continue on Saturday and Sunday.
