Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russian troops have suffered massive losses. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the number of fallen soldiers is approximately 891,660, of which 1,410 died in the past 24 hours.

Russian equipment losses

In addition to personnel losses, Russia has also lost a significant quantity of military equipment. Among the destroyed units were 10,313 tanks, 21,443 armoured personnel carriers, and 24,455 artillery systems. Additionally, the Russians lost 1,314 rocket launchers, 1,103 anti-aircraft systems, 370 aircraft, and 331 helicopters.

Furthermore, Ukrainian forces destroyed 29,136 unmanned aerial vehicles, 3,121 cruise missiles, 28 naval vessels, one submarine, and 40,469 vehicles, including tankers, as stated in the General Staff's communication.

Situation in the Kursk region

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian troops repelled 22 Russian attacks on Thursday, and there were 146 combat clashes in the past 24 hours. Earlier, there were reports of a rapid retreat of the Ukrainian army from this region, which was said to allow the Russians to regain control over the town of Sudzha.

Some commentators, including those from "Le Monde," suggest that Ukrainian forces may be leaving these areas under pressure from US authorities, who are conducting peace negotiations with Kyiv and Moscow.
