On Thursday, the Russian delegation arrived in Istanbul to participate in talks concerning the situation in Ukraine. This information was reported by the AFP agency, citing Russian state media. The meeting aims to address key issues related to the conflict.

Despite the delegation's arrival, the exact start time of the talks has not yet been established. Andriy Kovalenko from Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council reported on the Telegram platform that earlier reports about the talks starting at 10:00 AM Turkish time are false.

Ukraine will be represented by, among others, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov. Meanwhile, the Russian delegation will be led by Vladimir Putin's adviser, Vladimir Medinsky. The delegation will also include Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and Admiral Igor Kostyukov.

Absence of Putin

The Kremlin announced that Vladimir Putin will not participate in the talks in Istanbul. Instead, on Wednesday evening, he held a meeting with key members of his government to discuss the upcoming peace talks with Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to make decisions regarding further peace negotiations with Russia after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This information was provided to the AFP agency by a high-ranking representative of the Ukrainian authorities.

"The president starts his visit with Erdogan in Ankara and only then will the president decide on the next steps," the official told the AFP news agency.
