Fourteen people were injured in the Russian drone assault on the city of Zaporizhzhia, located in southeast Ukraine, as reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional authorities, Ivan Fedorov, during the night of Thursday and Friday. Earlier reports of a fatality were not confirmed.
Fedorov reported that "The Russians conducted at least 10 strikes on Zaporizhzhia. They attacked private homes, high-rise residential buildings, educational institutions, and infrastructure facilities." The attack took place on Thursday evening, and its effects were felt throughout the city.
Local authorities have taken measures to protect residents and mitigate the effects of the attack. Fedorov emphasised that the situation is being monitored, and emergency services are working on-site to provide assistance to those affected.
USA-Ukraine agreement
The United States and Ukraine announced the signing of an agreement that envisions the creation of a joint investment fund. The goal is to share future revenues from Ukrainian mineral resources. The agreement was announced by the Trump administration and is the result of months of difficult negotiations.
U.S. Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, emphasised that this agreement signals to Russia that the Trump administration is committed to a peace process aimed at ensuring Ukraine's freedom, sovereignty, and prosperity. President Trump envisioned this partnership as evidence of the commitment of both nations to lasting peace and prosperity in Ukraine, Bessent noted.
