Russian forces face allegations of crimes in Kursk region
The Russians are gradually returning to the territory of the Kursk region, part of which was occupied by Ukrainian forces. Not everyone in Russia has a reason to be pleased about this. Putin's soldiers are reportedly committing crimes. Ukrainian politician Anton Herashchenko shared a recording that is said to substantiate these claims.
The Ukrainians are retreating from the Kursk region under the pressure of the Russians. The military struggled with attacks from Russian drones and artillery. Vladimir Putin has made regaining control of the lost territory one of his main goals. For Moscow, the fact that Ukrainians managed to hold on to parts of its territory for so long is a setback to their image. Unfortunately, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost many soldiers in the Kursk region. The operation, which began in August last year, also meant that Kyiv lacked forces on other fronts, hence the recent advances of the Russians.
Russians return to the Kursk region
Not all residents of the territory being reclaimed by the Kremlin have reasons to celebrate. Anton Herashchenko, a Ukrainian politician and former deputy minister of internal affairs, reports on thefts, rapes, and murders allegedly committed by Russians on the reclaimed territories.
He also showed a video featuring Russian looters who enter damaged buildings and take a keen interest in the property. There was also a chicken that happened to be wandering around the yard.
These are not the only pieces of evidence of Russian thefts. We recently described the story of a man who showed footage from his home. He was robbed by Russians. A resident of Repyachovka village in the Belgorod region complained that demoralised soldiers were stealing even though there was nothing valuable in his house.
