Russian missile strike devastates Kryvyi Rih: 16 dead, 50 injured

The Russians have attacked Kryvyi Rih again, leading to further destruction and casualties. As a result of the previous attack, at least 16 people were killed, including six children, and over 50 were injured.

The military administration of the Dnipropetrovsk region reported that on Friday evening, the Russians once again launched an air attack on Kryvyi Rih. "This time using unmanned aerial vehicles," said Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defence Council.

A fire broke out as a result of the attack. "Houses, private infrastructure, and service premises went up in flames," he added. As a result of these attacks, at least one person was killed.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the target of the precise missile attack on Kryvyi Rih was a dining venue where Ukrainian soldiers were supposed to meet with Western instructors. The Russians claim that 85 soldiers and officers from foreign armies were killed, and about 20 military vehicles were destroyed.

Earlier, a Russian missile hit the centre of a residential area in Kryvyi Rih. Fires broke out in the city, and high-rise buildings were damaged.

Why is Russia attacking Kryvyi Rih?

The U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, condemned Friday's Russian attack on Kryvyi Rih. "Horrified that tonight a ballistic missile struck near a playground and restaurant in Kryvyi Rih. More than 50 people injured and 16 killed, including 6 children. This is why the war must end," she wrote on social media.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky extended condolences to the families of the victims and emphasised that the Russians attacked a residential district. "People die every day. There is only one reason why this continues: Russia does not want a ceasefire, and we see it. The whole world sees it," the Ukrainian leader wrote on Telegram.
